Page Accessibility Labs brings a unique passion and expertise to website accessibility and usability testing. All our core test engineers are visually impaired. They rely on assistive technologies in their day to day lives and are familiar with the frustrations of having to use a poorly designed website. Our passion comes  from the knowledge that, for the first time in human history a medium exists with the potential to bring information, services and entertainment to everyone regardless of how well they can see or hear or read a particular language. It only needs good implementation for this potential to be realized.

Full Usability Suite

All web users appreciate quality, intuitive, attractive design. The disabled, perhaps, even more. When most of us come to a new web page for the first time we see it all at once, we can quickly identify major sections like navigation or primary content and we can easily scan it to see if what we are looking for is there or on another page. A visually disabled person using a screen reader hears the page one link, one word, one image at a time. She can't know what is coming next and may well need to listen to the entire page only to find that she needs another. Under the best of conditions filling out a job application or credit card purchase form, for instance, can be arduous. Under poor conditions it can be downright impossible.

For disabled users the products and services available on the web are perhaps more vital that to others. Creating forms and shopping carts easily usable by the blind or cognitively impaired can mean a new level of independence for them and additional, grateful clients for your company.  But designing a site that is easily usable for the disabled will also make it easier to use for everyone. Implementing suggestions in a PAL Usability report will streamline any complex process.

A PAL Usability Suite begins with Automated and Manual Accessibility testing. It then continues with multiple test experts conducting specific assignment testing such making a purchase, filling out a long form, or finding key information using a screen reader. It is followed by ad-hoc testing. They report on the amount of time it took to complete the tasks, the ease with which they were completed, helpful features and barriers, and general comments.

Passing a PAL Usability Testing Suite will earn your company or organization to put the PAL - Access Assured badge on your website and inclusion in our WebPAL Directory for disabled users at no further cost.
